Natalie's Wonka birthday

Natalie wanted to have a Willy Wonka party for her 7th birthday. We gave her friends chocolate bars with golden tickets in them, inviting them to come to the "factory" for a party. Ken wore a Willy Wonka costume and had them sign a contract like in the movie. They ate chocolate from a chocolate fountain in a chocolate river, they made chocolate suckers, licked lickable wallpaper, went through a Wonka Wash (hsaw aknow), drank fizzy lifting drinks and bounced on mattresses under a ceiling fan while I blew bubbles, they played a golden egg game with chocolate inside and we had a bubble blowing contest. I had as much fun as the kids, if not more. I love Willy Wonka! Her friends that came were: Kendall Woodhouse, Hannah (from school), Lexi Cavarro, Maddie Walker, Kayla Pixton, Olivia Tonas and Rachel Morden (the last two are cousins). It was a lot of work, but it was all worth it. So fun!

Fire!

We had a fire in the house! Elizabeth put a bendable desklamp on top of Kate's shirt and it caught on fire after she left the room. I was asleep across the hall at the time. Ken was able to smell it from downstairs and remove the lamp that was melting and smoking up the bedroom. He went back to make sure that he had taken care of the problem and there were 1 1/2 foot high flames coming from the shirt! He covered it with a towel and put it out. Kate's shirt was ruined, there was a tiny burn mark in the carpet, the glass part of the lamp melted into the carpet and the towel was ruined, but that was the only damage. We were very blessed. Ken's our hero!

Snow day

We had a fun day in the snow. It was a pretty warm day for being in the snowy mountains and we played for about 3 hours. Kate was the biggest sledding fan and went down more than any of the other kids. The kids had fun making a snowman with dad. I like living close to mountains and close to the ocean. I like California.

My birthday

For my 34th birthday, I went to dinner with my friends. It was a fun mix of volleyball friends, co-op friends and running friends. I was surprised how many of my friends knew eachother when I didn't think that they did. There were all kinds of connections. Around the table, starting from the left, there's Jaynie Dufort, Heather Parker, Tierra Lowry, me, Tiffany Pixton, Stephanie Elkins, Hilari Pickett, Anita Stewart, Amy Summerhays and Marie Zambrana. I got my first sombrero at Chevy's. After dinner, we went to see the movie "Leap Year". Christine Shutt joined us at the theater. I have great friends. We had a fun evening.

Tiger spray

We went back to Discovery Kingdom one more time before our passes expired. The highlight of the day was when we were nearly peed on by a tiger. The sign on the the cage says "You may get wet or sprayed". Apparently, the tiger pees on spectators often. Elizabeth didn't see it and she didn't believe me when I told he that he almost got us. The video proof is posted to youtube. Here's a link:
