Kate petted this pig for at least 5 minutes. She loved the other animals, too.

Double Digits!

Elizabeth is 10!
She doesn't really like cake, so she had birthday brownies at her homeschool co-op. She got a watch and a password journal and some money to spend at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom amusement park. Ken took her and her friend Camille Pixton.

Kate's first haircut

At age 3, Kate got her first haircut. It was sad to see the pretty curls go, but not as sad as the tears when I brushed her long hair everyday. Her Aunt Kathy cut it. Kate did such a good job sitting still she got a sucker when it was over.

General Conference

Conference is quite the production around here. The kids get a new pen each conference to use with their clipboards of activity pages. They earn candy by doing the pages. This conference, we tried "tents" that they faced toward the prophet. They each decorated a box and sat in them. We got Elizabeth and Natalie to sit and listen for about 7 hours over the two days of conference. Nick and Kate were in there with us most of time as well. They loved their tents. After a long day, Kate fell asleep in her tent. Follow the prophet! We love President Monson! What a great conference!

First day of school

Natalie started 1st grade and Nick started Kindergarten. Here they are in their first day of school outfits. Natalie has Miss Vinci and Nick has Mrs. James at Twelve Bridges Elementary. As I blog about this a month later, we've had a rocky start with Natalie not liking 1st grade as well as Kindergarten and Nick getting into a little trouble here and there, but they are both adjusting and doing better. :)

Creek Walk

We went on a fun field trip with our new co-op. We walked up a creek and found all kinds of plant and animal life (we're studying biology this year). Elizabeth caught some fish and brought them home. We saw crayfish, tadpoles, insects in their larvae stage and other cool things. It was also PE, since it was quite a workout to walk upstream for an hour and a half. Elizabeth and Kate were tired, but they loved it.

Homeschool Co-op

We have a bigger homeschool co-op this year and it has been so fun. There are 24 kids in it. In this picture, the "Little schoolers" are sporting beards for their history class. L-R: Ben Browning, Liam Browning, Sadie Dufort, Lydia (Elkin's niece), Josh Elkins and Kate.
